The ARC is on the bucket list of a vast number of sailors, with over 200 boats and 1200 people every year joining to sail from Gran Canaria to Saint Lucia. The event is organised by the World Cruising Club and is one of their many events from all around the world.

These rallies are specially designed to help people achieve their offshore cruising goals with the support and assistance of other boats.

Possibly the best thing about the ARC is that it is non-exclusive and suits all manner of cruisers; be that a professional skipper, a cruising couple, or even families with children. They all cross the Atlantic together, having their own individual adventures along the way which can then be shared over a chilled beer or a traditional rum punch on arrival in St Lucia.

The company was formed by Jimmy Cornell in 1986. In addition to the traditional ARC, there are a wide range of other sailing rallies throughout the year, such as ARC Europe, ARC USA and of course the World ARC. In preparation for these events, the World Cruising Club provides advice and training in the form of two-day seminars in the UK and USA, and short question and answer sessions at major boat shows.

If you are taking part in the ARC, or any of the other WCC events Topsail are able to help with your insurance requirements; whether that is for personal travel insurance or for the boat itself. Contact the office today on + (0) 1273 57 37 27 to discuss further.
