Many of us dream of giving up our jobs and sailing around the world to stunning ‘National Geographic’ front-cover worthy islands on a beautiful yacht.

But it is just that, just a dream. But this is not the case for a young Australian couple who have turned their passion into an income which has turned into their dreams!

YouTube vloggers Riley Whitelum and Elayna Carausu and their life onboard La Vagabonde have become extremely popular and are watched monthly by three million people who tune into their weekly videos of their sailing adventures.

After posting their travelling videos for over two years the couple took to Patreon, a crowdfunding website where viewers can pledge and donate which all go towards their next journey.

Elayna, from Geraldton, Western Australia commented on their rising success: “We’re the number one sailing channel at the moment on YouTube.”

This has all lead to increased social media followers and particular interest from a French boatbuilding company who got in touch to offer the couple a very special deal. The company have offered a brand-new luxury, million-dollar sailing catamaran to the couple at a discounted rate to appear in their online travel journals.

And as much as we all want to believe that it is just lots of fun sailing, exploring and drinking cocktails there is a lot of hard work involved.

After having to return to Australia last year to raise funds by getting jobs, Riley highlights how much is involved: “Between running the boat, keeping the boat afloat, checking the weather, and keeping up with maintenance, that’s a big enough job as far as I am concerned. And all this YouTube stuff; we’ve never worked so hard in our lives.”
